Physical DescriptionA silver plate displays a round gold and blue seal above lines of horizontal engraved text. Six enamel flags are below it; horizontal engraved text and facsimilia signatures are below each.
Historical NoteSecretary of Defense Donald R. Rumsfeld, on behalf of the Service Secretaries, presented this silver commemorative engraved plate to President Gerald R. Ford on December 11, 1976. It was presented during a White House dinner for the Secretary of Defense, the Service Secretaries, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Commanders of the Unified Commands. The item was then transferred to the White House Gift Unit on December 14, 1976.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe service secretaries gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
