Physical Description(a-d) A set of four silver coins, two feature a raised image of a woman in profile view with raised curved text along the bottom. One features a raised image of a building with multiple lines of horizontal text throughout, and the other features a raised image of sailboats with lines of horizontal text throughout. (e) A square wooden presentation box is lined with black fabric, which has a gold symbol in the center, and the bottom portion is cushioned with black fabric.
Historical NoteOn October 17, 1974, Marcel Cadieux, Ambassador of Canada to the United States, presented these commemorative coins to President Ford on behalf of the Governor General of Canada, the Right Honorable Jules Leger. The coins celebrate the 1976 Summer Olympic Games, which took place in Montreal, Canada.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
