Physical DescriptionA shield-shaped wooden plaque features three golden decorations: an eagle with fully outstretched wings, a large key, and an eagle with extended wings. Near the top, a small golden plaque displays rows of horizontal engraved text.
Historical NoteRobert Benedict, Mayor of Bloomington, Indiana, gifted this key to the city plaque to Presidend Gerald R. Ford in commemoration of his visit on August 18-19, 1975.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
