Historical NoteThis decorative plate was gifted to the Fords by Stanisława Gierek, Polish historian and wife of Polish Communist Party Leader Edward Gierek, and Jadwiga Jablońska, wife of Polish politician Henryk Jabloński. It depicts Wilanów Palace, the guest residence used by the Fords when they visited Warsaw, Poland in 1975.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford and First Lady Betty Ford during the Ford Administration. It was presented to them and was maintained at the Executive Office of the President until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
