Laurel wreath links sixteen images enclosed in circles, each depicting a scene or symbol related to American history and independence. Top of the wreath features an enclosed image of George Washington, with arrows protruding from either side of the image. An eagle with arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other flies above.Historical NoteHarry Hill owned one of seventy-six prints of the original engraving titled "The Unanimous Declaration of the Thirteen United States of America", which was made by William Woodruff in 1918. In honor of America's Bicentennial, Hill gifted President Ford a high-quality facsimile of the print.Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
