Physical DescriptionA wooden presentation piece features a carved tank supported by a trapezoidal base. A rectangular golden plaque is affixed to the front of the base; it displays rows of horizontal engraved text.
Historical NoteThe officers and men of the Third Armored Division gifted this hand-carved replica of an M60 tank to President Gerald R. Ford on July 27, 1975, during the President's trip to Helsinki, Finland. It was later displayed in the Oval Office.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in September, 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
