Physical DescriptionWooden paddle. Features eagle from the Seal of the United States at top, painted in gold, with the shield of the United States in red, white, and blue. Carved letters, "USA", span the length of the paddle. "Happy Birthday/1776/To/1976" is written in black ink at very end. Leather loop hangs from a hole in the paddle's handle.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
