Physical DescriptionCenter of silver plate is divided into four quarters. Top quarter at viewer's left depicts fish in water, top quarter to viewer's right depicts snowflakes, bottom quarter to viewer's right depicts factories, and bottom quarter to viewer's left depicts apple trees. A silhouette of Berrien County is set at the very center of the plate, overlapping these designs. Curvy decorates along the rim encloses the design.Historical NoteLeslie H. Fischer, a representative of the Berrien County Board of Commissioners, presented this item to President Gerald R. Ford at the Niles Railroad Station on May 15, 1975. This was one of several campaign stops that Ford made in Michigan that day.Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was presented to Ford and was maintained at the Executive Office of the President until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
