Historical NoteFirst Lady Betty Ford connected with American citizens on the 1976 Presidential campaign trail by communicating through CB radio. The handle Betty used for her CB radio was "First Mama," as painted on this license plate.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to First Lady Betty Ford during the Ford administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
