Physical Description(a,b) A silver award features a helmet elevated on a pedestal that is attached to a round base. A red, white, and blue logo on the center of the helmet depicts an eagle with outstretched wings along with curved text. The front of the base displays rows of horizontal black text.Historical NoteGerald R. Ford received the AMVETS Silver Helmet Award, that group’s highest recognition of Congressional service, in April 1971.
