A white horse head is attached to the front of the costume, positioned in front of the man's torso.Historical NotePolish leader Edward Gierek gifted this doll to President Gerald Ford during Ford’s state visit to Poland in July 1975. Dressed in traditional red dress and riding horsebacks, the doll depicts a Polish Cossack. The Cossacks are a Slavic group known for their independence, horsemanship, and simple lifestyle. Due to their historic battles for autonomy from aristocrats, many Polish people consider the Cossacks heroes of the lower class.Additional Details
