Physical Description(a-d) A set of four coins. One silver coin features a raised image of diagonal shapes protruding from a small circular shape encircled by text. A gold coin features a raised image of various shapes encircled by text. Two smaller silver coins feature raised images of a feather adjacent to a line of horizontal text below a number.

(e) A rectangular black presentation box is lined with white fabric on the interior of the lid and is cushioned with black fabric on the bottom portion.
Historical NoteUruguayan Ambassador José Pérez Caldas gifted these coins to President Ford on May 10, 1975. He attended a reception held by President and Mrs. Ford in honor of the chiefs of delegations to the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS). Dating from 1948, the OAS fosters cooperation and collaboration among states across the Americas.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
