Physical Description(a) A hexagonal bronze medal displays a raised eagle with outstretched wings. It holds three arrows in its talons. The medal is suspended from a round metal loop that hangs from a vertically-striped green and white ribbon.(b) A horizontal metal pin displays a vertically-striped green and white ribbon.
(c) A horizontal green metal pin displays vertical white stripes in the center and on the edges.
(d) Golden borders decorate the edges of a black box. The interior of the lid and the bottom portion are lined with golden fabric.
Historical NoteWilliam C. Congleton earned this medal and other materials during his service in the Vietnam War. He returned the medals to President Gerald R. Ford in an act of political protest following Ford's decision to grant clemency to draft evaders.Additional Details
