Historical NoteOn July 7, 1976 Queen Elizabeth II presented this brooch to Betty Ford, as well as a set of cuff link to Gerald R. Ford (1988.971a-c) and a compact to Susan Ford (1988.971.2a-b) during her visit to the United States in 1976, which coincided with American Bicentennial celebrations. This was the Queen's first visit to the United States after being crowned was in 1957Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Betty Ford during the Ford administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in December, 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
