A gold sculpture of an eagle with outstretched wings is positioned behind it; both are attached to a round wooden base.Historical NoteThis item was made by a local jeweler located in Grand Rapids, MI in honor of the opening of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in 1981. The "Freedom Eagle" was loaned to the museum by the jeweler, until it was donated to the museum in 1982. The rock below the eagle is meant to symbolize the “rock of Democracy.” The post holding the eagle is meant to represent a football goal post from the University of Michigan, where Ford played football.Additional Details
