Physical Description(.1-.14) A coffee service consists of a coffee pot and lid, a creamer, a sugar bowl and lid, four coffee cups, four coffee saucers, and a serving tray. All of the pieces have a gold rim and feature navy blue silhouettes of men from the shoulders up which are enclosed in white circles set against dark brown textured backgrounds.
Historical NoteQueen Margrethe II and Prince Consort Henrik of Denmark gifted this tea service to President and Mrs. Ford in 1976. It features the silhouettes of leaders of early American revolutionary leaders Benjamin Franklin, John Jay, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and George Washington.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was processed through the President’s White House Office of Correspondence, White House Gift Unit in 1976 and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
