Physical DescriptionAn octoganal-shaped gold coin features a raised image of the profile of a woman encircled by raised text.Historical NoteThis item was presented by Miguel Pourier, the Minister of Finance of the Netherlands Antilles, to a representative of President Gerald R. Ford. The presentation took place in the Roosevelt Room in the White House on January 9, 1976. After the presentation of the item, it was placed in the Great Hall of the Commerce Building in a Bicentennial exhibit in Washington D.C. for public display. One side of the coin bears the effigy of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands, while the other side displays the Andrew Doria, a 1775 warship of the Continental Navy. This coin was manufactured and placed into circulation by the Government of the Netherlands Antilles to celebrate the Bicentennial.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was presented to him and was maintained at the Executive Office of the President until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
