Physical DescriptionA green and orange vase has a round rim and a body that tapers towards the bottom. It is supported by a round foot.Historical NotePrime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gifted this vase to President Ford during his state visit to the United States on February 5, 1975. Before the state dinner held in his honor, Bhutto and Ford met in the Oval Office. Joined by other members of their respective administrations, they discussed arms, relations with India, Congress’s position on arms sales to Turkey, and Henry Kissinger’s ongoing Middle East negotiations.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
