Historical NoteMrs. Ford was an active member of the League of Republican Women of the District of Columbia for many years. She attended the league's "Frankie Welch Congressional Wives' Luncheon Style Show" as honorary chairman at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC on January 12, 1976. This item was gifted to her on that occasion.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to First Lady Betty Ford during President Gerald R. Ford's term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
