Physical DescriptionA blue, delft-style plate with gold-colored trim depicts a bust of Gerald R Ford in the center, with the various homes and locations that were significant in his past. A note on the back of the plate explains each picture choice. The plate was given as a Bicentennial gift.Historical NoteThomas Shearer, President of the Tuberculosis Health & Emphysema Society of West Michigan, presented this plate to President Ford at the White House on September 24, 1976. This plate is the first in a series of bicentennial plates issued by the society.Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was presented to Ford and was maintained at the Executive Office of the President until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
