Physical Description(a) A pin made of white gold is encrusted with diamonds. It is designed to look like a leaf accented with curved decorative shapes.

(b) A small, square box covered in blue fabric is lined with white fabric on the interior of the lid and is cushioned with black fabric on the bottom portion.
Historical NoteEgyptian President Anwar al-Sadat gifted this pin to First Lady Betty Ford during the U.S. state trip to Europe from May 28 to June 4, 1975. This was Betty Ford’s first international trip as First Lady and included stops in Belgium, Spain, Austria, and Italy.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to First Lady Betty Ford during the Ford Administration. It was presented to her and was maintained at the Executive Office of the President until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
