American troops are depicted on proper left side, on horseback, carrying the American flag. British troops are depicted on proper right side, on horseback, carrying a white flag. An American general is at the center of image, on horseback. Black cursive text is present at bottom of image. "1776" and "1976" are present on white portion of plate near bottom, on proper right and proper left sides respectively.Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to First Lady Betty Ford and President Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
