Physical DescriptionResembling an American flag, a metal shield-shaped trivet features three raised figures of Revolutionary soldiers, two are playing drums, and one is playing a fife. Raised text along a golden border encloses the design. An eagle is perched on the ends of the border, which extend past the top point of the shield.Historical NoteOn July 14, 1976, Bicentennial Eagle Scout Michael D. Greenbank presented this gift to White House staff member Mit Mitler, who accepted it on President Ford's behalf.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
