Physical DescriptionAn oblong silver platter features a decorative raised rim. It depicts a pattern alternating between images of figures in seated positions, facial features combined with geometric shapes, and a bird surrounded by scrollwork.
Historical NoteIndonesian First Lady Tien Suharto gifted this platter to President Ford on July 5, 1975. President and First Lady Suharto met with the President at Camp David as part of a world tour. The Suhartos had last visited the United States in 1970.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Gerald R. Ford during the Ford administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
