Physical DescriptionA red leather chest features a round golden design on the top of the lid. There are gold scrollwork designs positioned vertically on each side. A small rectangular drawer pulls out from the front.Historical NoteThe chest was given as a gift by Tunisian Ambasaddor Ali Hedda and his wife. It was received by the White House Gift Unit on Decemeber 13, 1974.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
