Physical DescriptionA figure dressed in ornate, blue, gold, red, and green armor holds a raised sword against a blue background. The handle of a spear is pressed between his side and elbow, and a large gold semicircle envelops his head.
Historical NoteYugoslavian President Josip Broz Tito gifted this painting to Jack Ford. Jack accompanied his parents to Belgrade, Yugoslavia on August 3-4, 1975. The painting depicts the warrior saint Nikita.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to Jack Ford during the Ford Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
