Tolbert, Jr., President of Liberia, gifted these stamps to commemorate America's Bicenntial. The stamps were presented on September 22, 1976 at the Liberian Reciprocal Reception, held at Anderson House in Washington, DC.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford and First Lady Betty Ford during the Ford Administration. It was presented to them and was maintained at the Executive Office of the President until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
