Physical DescriptionA model of a ship displays vertical rows of cannons, white and brown masts, a silver keel, and a black hull with square gun ports. It is mounted on a rectangular wooden base.Historical NoteThe mahogany model of the USS Constitution -- America's oldest and most well-known frigate "Old Ironsides", which earned its colors during the War of 1812 -- was handmade by the Piel Craftsmen Company. The Essex Club of Massachusetts gited it to Congressman Ford in 1966. Ford displayed this scale model in his offices over the years, including the Oval Office.Additional Details
