Physical DescriptionA square white quilt features a large red, white, and blue eight-point star made of multiple pieces of fabric, which have a variety of patterns. Blue and red borders decorate the edges.Historical NoteDonna Rabe and Pearl Sayer of Snake River Quilts made this quilt in honor of the American Bicentennial. It was the first in a series of Bicentennial quilts done by the organization and it has been displayed in Denver, Los Angeles, and Idaho Falls before reaching President Ford in the White House. The center of the quilt features an eight-pointed star made of various fabrics cut into diamond shapes. The star is surrounded by a white background and red and navy-blue borders.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
