Historical NoteNew York City Mayor Abraham D. Beame gifted this commemorative key to President Gerald R. Ford in 1975. It is a facsimile of a key made in 1812 for the door to New York City Hall.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ford during the Ford administration. It was presented to him and was maintained at the Executive Office of the President until its transfer to the National Archives in September, 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
