Physical Description(a) A gold skeleton key features a bow decorated with flowers and scrollwork. It is topped by a crown. On the end of the shaft, the bit is designed to look like an ornate rectangular building with arches.Overall (box) H 4 1/2 in x W 10 3/4 in x D 1 1/2 in (11.4 cm x 27.3 cm x 3.8 cm )
(b) A rectangular, silver box is lined with white fabric on the interior of the lid, and the bottom portion is cushioned with red fabric.

Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
