One is a female doll with long braided hair wearing a tall decorative hat and a white dress decorated with pink, red, and blue designs. The other is a male doll wearing a red and black hat and a long cream coat decorated with red and blue designs.Historical NotePolish leader Edward Gierek gifted these dolls, wearing traditional Polish dress, during the President and Mrs. Ford’s state visit to Poland in 1975. Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
