Physical DescriptionA small metal eagle with outstretched wings is supported by a cubical wooden base. A silver rectangular plaque engraved with rows of horizontal text is affixed to the front of the base.Historical NotePresident Ford received this presentation piece on May 15, 1976, during a campaign stop in Flint, Michigan. It declares him an honarary member of the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA), Tall Pine Council, Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Ford became and Eagle Scout in 1927. He is the only president to have achieved this rank.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
