Physical DescriptionA silver sculpture of four marching men, three are playing instruments while one is holding a flag. It is attached to a rectangular wooden base, adjacent to a vertical silver plaque, which is engraved with text.Historical NoteThe president of the New England Council, Director of the Massachusetts Port Authority, and later governor of Massachusetts, Edward J. King, gave this gift to President Ford in November 1975 at the 51st New England Council Conference.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was presented to Ford and was maintained at the Executive Office of the President until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
