Physical DescriptionA black metal sculpture of four men in a troika as they cross rugged terrain, one man stands upright as he holds the horses' reigns. The others are seated behind him.
Historical NoteLeonid Brezhnev, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, presented President Gerald R. Ford with this sculpture during his Vladivostok trip on November 23-24, 1974. This piece remained at the Ford residence in Rancho Mirage, California until Mrs. Ford's death in 2011.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was presented to him and was maintained at the Executive Office of the President until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
