Physical DescriptionA rectangular stamp features an image of a ship on the water against a light blue sky. There are green land forms in the distance. A small red and white stamp depicting the landing of Christopher Columbus in the Americas in 1492 is near the top, proper left corner. Horizontal red text is across the top. There are curvy black ink marks on the bottom, proper right corner.
Historical NoteIn 1975, Liberia produced a series of American history-themed stamps to commemorate the bicentennial. This stamp came from the gifter's personal collection of bicentennial materials.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
