Physical DescriptionBronze bell. Base of the bell resembles the dome of the Capitol building, with a raised inscription near bottom. Handle of bell is in shape of a figure wearing robs, with head tilted slightly to the side.Historical NoteWhite House staff accepted this object on behalf of President Gerald R. Ford when representatives and members of the American Bells Association presented it in the Rose Garden of the White House on June 29, 1976.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
