Physical DescriptionA white cap is made of four panels of fabric, which are embroidered with white decorative designs and borders. A white tassel hangs from the side of the cap between two of the panels.
Historical NotePresident William R. Tolbert, Jr. of Liberia gifted this hat to President Gerald R. Ford in 1976. It is part of a set, along with a shirt (1981.181.1) and robe (1981.181.2).Additional Details

Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was presented to him and was maintained at the Executive Office of the President until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
