Physical DescriptionA cornhusk doll wears a red dress and a white apron. She holds a woven basket filled with tiny flowers; a red bow decorates the handle.Historical NoteMr. and Mrs. Gordon Topp gifted this corn doll to President and Mrs. Ford during the President’s trip to Illinois in October 1976. In an accompanying note, the Topps wrote, “Best wishes to the Fords!” Bloomington-Normal Jaycees, a community organization for young people, made the doll.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford and First Lady Betty Ford during the Ford administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President, and First Lady Betty Ford donated it to the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum in 2008.
