Physical DescriptionAn image of a painting that depicts Betsy Ross is printed on a transparent plastic strip, which wraps around a spherical white Christmas ornament. She cuts a piece of fabric with scissors as two men hold an American flag behind her. George Washington and a child are adjacent to the small group. A silver cap with scalloped edges covers the top of the ornament, which has a silver metal loop protruding from it.Historical NoteThe item was a gift from an unknown donor to President Gerald R. Ford and First Lady Betty Ford in December 1975. The item was received by White House advisor Pete Sorum during a trip with First Lady Betty Ford and then transferred to the White House Gift Unit.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteAn unknown donor gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President. First Lady Betty Ford donated it to the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum in 2008.
