Physical DescriptionA Christmas ornament consists of pieces of felt stitched together to resemble George Washington's figure, in profile view. He wears a red coat, a white lace cravat, navy blue britches, white stockings, and navy-blue shoes. Three clusters or red plastic beads decorate a green wreath that he holds. A golden loop is attached to the top of his head.Historical NoteThe item was sent by a member of the general public to President Gerald R. Ford and First Lady Betty Ford in December 1975. A note accompanied the gifts.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to First Lady Betty Ford during the Ford Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President. First Lady Betty Ford donated it to the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum in 2008.
