Physical DescriptionThe Bicentennial quilt consists of numerous small red, white, and blue squares sewn together. The quilt is made of cotton and has a silk backing and border. It was presented on the White House lawn on June 8, 1976.

Custodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was presented to Ford and was maintained at the Executive Office of the President until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
