Historical NoteGeneral Ignatius Kutu Acheampong, military head of state of Ghana, gifted this kente cloth to President Ford. Kente is a traditional Ghanaian textile, handwoven using cotton and silk. It is worn during special occassions.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
