Physical Description(a) A long-sleeved ivory jacket, with black flecks throughout, has a lapel-style collar and pleats on each side.

(b) A knee-length dress made of the same material has a shirt-style collar and a vertical row of shiny, white buttons.

(c) A sash made of the same material is tied around the waistline in a bow, giving the jacket a peplum-style appearance.

Historical NoteBetty Ford wore this ensemble during her time as First Lady, including at the arrival ceremony for President Valery Giscard d'Estaing and his wife, Anne-Aymone Giscard d'Estaing, of France on May 17, 1976; the First Lady’s Breakfast hosted by the Congressional Club on May 20, 1976; and the graduation ceremony Mrs. Ford’s alma mater, Central High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on June 7, 1976.Additional Details
