Physical DescriptionA square piece of wood features pieces of white, black, and gray minerals arranged to represent the shape of Liberia. There is text on rectangular black pieces of wood which are adhered to multiple areas. A small gold engraved piece of metal is attached to the lower proper right corner.Historical NotePresident William R. Tolbert, Jr. of Liberia presented this plaque to President Ford in November 1974. The map of Liberia is made of rocks indigenous to each of the counties represented.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was presented to him and was maintained at the Executive Office of the President until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
