Physical DescriptionA rectangular blue and gray slab of alabaster features a dark blue outline of the Statue of Liberty. A horizontal blue piece of lazurite is attached to the bottom; it displays rows of horizontal gold text along with a gold seal.Historical NoteAmbassador Abdullah Malikyar of Afghanistan gifted this marble sculpture to Vice President Nelson Rockefeller in commemoration of the American Bicentennial in 1976.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to Vice President Nelson Rockefeller during the Ford administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
