Physical DescriptionA rectangular vertical tapestry features an image of Betty Ford wearing an orange dress against a light blue background. A brown border with a blue and white floral pattern encloses the image. White fringe is attached to the top and bottom edges.Historical NoteIranian Ambassador Ardeshir Zahedi gifted this hand-woven rug to First Lady Betty Ford in July 1975, in honor of her seventy-fifth birthday on April 8. The rug is part of a set, the other (1988.980.1.2) featuring an image of President Ford.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteA foreign official gifted the item to First Lady Betty Ford during the Ford Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
