Physical DescriptionA vertical rectangular wooden plaque features rows of horizontal text made of dry alphabet noodles.Historical NoteThe ten members of Girl Scout Troop #208 from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Richland Center, Wisconsin, made and presented this plaque to President Gerald R. Ford for the American Bicentennial celebration in 1976. They gave it to Ford on October 30, 1975 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The girls spent 60 hours reproducing the Declaration of Independence using over 8,000 alphabet noodles.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was presented to Ford and was maintained at the Executive Office of the President until its transfer to the National Archives in 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
