Physical DescriptionA silver, white, and blue model plane is affixed to a small wooden base. Two metal plaques are attached to the base; there is one on the front edge and one below the plane. Both plaques display rows of horizontal engraved text.Historical NoteThis is a replica model of Air Force One that President Gerald R. Ford used during his time in office. Ford's predecessor, Richard Nixon, had called the plane "The Spirit of '76." When Ford became Presisdent, he rechristened the plane Air Force One.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe general public gifted the item to President Gerald R. Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in September 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
