Physical DescriptionA horizontal metal pin displays a red ribbon with three metal oak leaves attached to it. Bronze laurel leaves enclose the ribbon.
Historical NoteMr. James W. Ewald earned these ribbons, stripes, hash marks, and certificates during his tenure in the United States Army. On September 5, 1974, Ewald returned his materials to the White House in protest of President Gerald R. Ford’s stance on Vietnam War draft-dodger amnesty.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from the general public to President Ford during his term in office. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in September, 1981 for deposit with the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library and Museum.
